Another day at the GMC and Kev looks today better than he has in weeks. Just like when he looked terrible and everyone wanted to tell him, today was a day of well received, "you look great." Kev walked twice, once in the morning and another early afternoon with the Physical Therapist. He is walking very well, the days to come should only be better.
An awkward moment no one really expected, not even the doctors, was the results of Fridays CAT scan. Dr. Ron came in (with his usual wind in face, have to pee expression) and said Kev has a blood clot on his lung... huh! This came as a bit of a shot since with chemo his counts have been so low, especially his platelets. They think it has been around for a bit. The clot is so small it took some time to verify and be certain it was a clot, but it still needs to treated. SO, instead of Kev just hanging about at home doing nothing, but popping pills, he will now have to partake in daily blood thinning shots. There is an anti-coagulate that he could take, but they say it is basically rat poison? This is a bit risky for Kev at the moment. No one is really alarmed about the whole ordeal... more dumbfounded that it actually happened.
He did eat some today, but is bothered by a throat soreness. He is taking Carafate and Magic Swizzle for now. Hopefully this will get him ready to start eating people food and not liquid from a bag. Some bad news today, but the road to normalcy gets shorter with each day!

Hi BJ,
Getting stronger with each day. GREAT job. Yeah, I know you're getting 'hit' with just about everything. This will make you stronger and more determined. Look out Hercules.... Here comes KEV!!!!

Morning Sunshine. Keep up the good work...eat, walk and positive spirits. I think of you everyday.
You will kick this in the butt!
Remember I LOVE YOU!

PS: BJ Yes the blood thinner is rat poison. Have taken it myself for several years for blood clots also.
Geez, if there was one person that didn't need bad news . . .
We'll keep praying, and you keep staying positive. Focus on getting to go home. Keep that goal in mind at all times, and you'll be home before you know it!

Hi Kevin,
I still have one Cherry Ripe candy bar left in my refrigerator waiting for us to share!
OK, so I am apparently not the brightest bulb in the pack since it's taken me a few days to figure out how to post a comment. I've written two, what I would say, rather hilarious comments only to lose them when I tried to become a goggle/blogger...what exactly is a google/blogger? I decided to keep it simple and go with the "anonymous" option yet post my name with my comment.
That seems to be working!
I must say Kevin, you are amazingly brave and strong to have endured your treatment and to have made it past the half way mark. We are all behind you cheering you on as you continue to make it through.
I'm sending your web-page to the on-site group so be prepared for lots of fabulous women to send you messages along with lots of hugs and kisses!
We miss you Kevin and can't wait to see you soon.
Lots of Love,
Darla
