nothing - part 2

Another good day of doing nothing. Kev actually woke up today for first time in a long while and said he slept good. Tonight he got the same cocktail and off to bed for hopefully another good nights rest.

Shopping was postponed today due to weather... snowed all day! We instead ordered Chinese and watched the cooking channel.

Tomorrow it all starts. We have an 8 o'clock blood work appointment followed by a quick overview by the Doctors before we get the date to start the last round. The appointment is early, but at least that means we won't be sitting around waiting for and hour before we get seen. We should also be home in time for Sandra Lee's Semi-Homemade and Paula Dean. If we somehow get home around Rachael Ray's 30 minute meals something went wrong. If we miss that little Italian girl with all the cleavage, then something really went wrong and what a shame it would be to miss her "show"!

keep'm crossed the blood looks good!

nothing

Today we woke up, at home, and had nothing to do.... at all. This was the first time since this whole ordeal started that we had nothing to do. It was really boring. Kev had a rough night sleeping from the student driven spinal tap. In a bit of irony, he was unable to fully fall asleep since he was constantly expecting someone to barge in the room to check his vitals or steal some blood. Like most parents would, Dad offered to periodically pop in and disrupt his sleep, but Kev decided against it.

We ate well today and he looks great. His walking has improved a lot. We went from a cane to a wheel chair, back to the cane, then the wheel chair again, stuck for a while on a walker, now we're back on the cane... not bad. His prescriptions are minimal this time around, but we know that won't last long. Tomorrow we have tentative plans of going into public and do some Christmas shopping. Usually we get a few adult beverages in us to loosen the wallets, but not this year. Hope everyone likes those awesome McDonald's coupon books!

home

We woke up to a new doctor, but the same results... "everything is good on our end." That is what we have been hearing and it doesn't get old. Kev had another Intrathecal treatment today and thy seem to be getting worse. The first one was great, but Geisinger is a learning hospital and sometimes Kev is the victim of a student project. They had a rough go of things and had to start from scratch today. Kev said it was "awful", but thats it.

His appetite is still hanging tough and the one thing that was making him feel a bit sick was changed to a lighter dose, so all should be well this week. Kev just has to relax and build up some strength for the big finish!

nearing the finish...

normal weekend ... spent in a hospital. Kev is looking real good and walking quite well at the moment. He is scheduled for another Intrathecal treatment tomorrow and then we are out of here until Friday and we do not have to come back in between.

The initial plan was to make up the Intrathecals after all the treatment is complete, but they finally recognized Kev's tenacity to get it done. After Friday he only has two more! The doctors are very impressed that they have been able to give Kev the full dose of chemo each session. Often times, individuals in his condition can't handle the full strength, his body has recovered well each and every time. There is only one more round left! The final round is a rough one so we're going to strengthen him up this week so he is ready to take it on again.

The only thing still lingering about is that @$%#! throat stuff! Gonna be a good week home, but that makes it all the more rough to go back in. Send words of encouragement, but don't make it mushy stuff... levity goes a long way!
