thirsty?

Home from the Hospital for just a day before Kevin checked back into room 836 at GMC (just as we left it, but someone stole the remote) Kev had one crazy night and even a crazier day. The afore mentioned Neupogen shot was scheduled for sometime between 12 - 4 today, but we just narrowly beat the clock. Kev, being neutropenic, was very week. His throat is soar, which makes swallowing very hard so he was not drinking as much as he was supposed to. This, combined with other uncontrolable factors, left Kev dehydrated and ready for check in.

His vitals are still o.k., plasma and whites are a bit low, but not uncommon. Kevin is going through a very rough stint in this first cycle of treatment. He took a 36 hour drip of Methotrexate, a very strong chemo, but he continually impresses doctors, family, and friends of his strength throughout this stage of treatment.

On a different note... Dad flew out tonite from Philly via Scranton to pick up kevs car and other things. He should be in Apopka around noon -ish tomorrow for anyone interested in grabbing some lunch with him. I would give out his number, but once we put his cell number on a golf ball with "if found please call" on it and some drunk called at an unreasonable hour.. so we don't do that anymore.

Hi Handsome Boy!

I hope you are staying strong! I cannot begin to imagine having your kind of courage. You really are a remarkable person in every way.

Please remember that this will not last forever my dear and your good friends will become even better friends.

I sent a care package to your parents house that you can open when you are feeling much better. I hope it makes you smile.

Here is a poem I found and I wanted to share it with you.

I found this on the web but most likely you've seen it before so my apologies if you have.

What Cancer Cannot Do

Cancer is so limited.
It cannot cripple love.
It cannot shatter hope.
It cannot erode faith.
It cannot destroy peace.
It cannot silence courage.
It cannot suppress memories
It cannot kill friendship
It cannot erode the spirit.
It cannot conquer the soul.

I also read comments from other people who are pootly and I found somethings that I wanted to share with you as they made a lot of sense to me.

These are just reminders in case you forget when you feel like poo -
1. Keep smiling and laughing (you will definately get a reputation I know you!) You are a very charasmatic person. Plus you can't hide that gorgeous smile! It wouldn't be fair to the hospital staff!
2. Eat the foods you love; if you can't eat the foods you love then find new foods
3. It's ok to feel poorly
4. It's ok to feel tired
5. Question EVERYTHING you don't understand
6. It's ok to be frighened and scared
7. Come to terms with losing your hair - you will always be a head turner! We all know that you are gorgeous!
8. Have visitors that make you happy
9. Congratulations for being such a strong person
10. Catnaps are a good thing
11. Surround yourself with those who love you
12. When you feel badly, let someone know - we are all in this together
13. Laughter is still the best medicine - Think of Waxy's!
14. You are strong enough to do this

I am thinking of you and there with you every step of the way. No pressure about the visit you just yell when you are feeling well enough to see me.

Love you,

Barbs

PS I am off to Dubai again from November 1st to the 20th but I will check the site everyday to watch your progress and will continue to post.

You need to tell BJ that you want the following (other than pizza)

1. Nando's
2. Sweet Chili, Wedges & Sour Cream
3. Tim Tam Fingers
4. Red Rock Chips
5. Cherry Ripes
6. Popcorn (to think of me)
7. Perogies (mmmm... I cooked them last night)
8. A bottle of Pink

That should be enough for BJ to go on a scavanger hunt to look for.

Miss You LOTS!!! I am putting on the foot patches after the Red SOx game so that means you should feel great by the AM. Love YA...Sharon

Buddy Boy,

I just wanted to say hey and let you know you're in my prayers. Now, that may or may not be a good thing??? HaHa I think I'm still in pretty tight with the big guy, but who knows these days. I was gonna post a dirty joke but the very small 'appropriate' side of my personality vetoed the idea. it's the same side that said "hey dan, you moron, govern yourself"...maybe when that side goes to bed i'll post it...haha.

p.s. i tried to fedex you a quadruple caramel machiato but those damn envelopes aren't water tight. doooooooe. :)

u have a lot of love down here in orlando.
